This requirement applies to individuals on professional and registered tiers. Supervision is a vital component of CHA hypnotherapist membership criteria, serving both as a membership requirement and a mechanism for ensuring quality control for the benefit of the public. To maintain their registration, all practicing members must fulfill a minimum number of supervision hours, which is set at 24 points.
For professional members, a minimum of six one-on-one sessions with a Supervisor is mandatory, while the remaining points can be obtained from group sessions.
Registered members, on the other hand, are obligated to complete a minimum of two one-on-one sessions with a Supervisor, with the remaining points coming from group sessions.
To clarify the point allocation system: one-on-one sessions contribute 2 points per hour, while group sessions (with more than two participants) contribute 1 point per hour. Most peer support groups typically run for 2 hours or more to allow ample time for all participants to engage. To accumulate the required 24 points annually, members should aim for 2 points per month through a combination of one-on-one sessions and group sessions.

Supervision can be conducted either online or in person. It is essential to ensure that all records of supervision include details such as the date, duration, and type of supervision (whether individual, group, or peer). These records must bear the signature of your supervisor, peer group leader, or participant, and self-signatures are not acceptable. Additionally, a signed letter from your supervisor is an acceptable alternative, provided it includes the aforementioned information. Emails are also acceptable, granted that they originate from the supervisor, encompass the required details, and are forwarded intact to the CHA team, clearly indicating the sender and the date.

This is always a great question! Here are some tips - 1. Go with a body that won’t make you jump through hoops to join but still has professionalism in mind. —- 2. Read the requirements of the body. Will you be able to meet those requirements? Will you feel supported whilst reaching the requirements? It is CHA’s goal to provide support to each of it members in a supportive manner.

The hypnotherapy patients showed a dramatic improvement in all features, the difference between the two groups being highly significant. In the hypnotherapy group no relapses were recorded during the 3-month follow-up period, and no substitution symptoms were observed. READ THE FULL STUDY HERE

A field study of 93 male and 93 female CMHC outpatients examined the facilitation of smoking cessation by combining hypnosis and aversion treatments.
After the 2-wk. program, 92% or 86 of the men and 90% or 84 of the women reported abstinence, and at 3-mo. follow-up, 86% or 80 of the men and 87% or 81 of the women reported continued abstinence. Although this field study in a clinical setting lacked rigorous measurement and experimental controls, the program suggested greater efficacy of smoking cessation by both sexes for combined hypnosis and aversion techniques.
